Gandhi is a Costarican musical group, somehow, it's hard to tell where they come from by listening their music. They play rock, loaded of distortioned guitars with rhytms and drums that make anyone to shake the head.

Luis, singer and group's main composer, cautivates the audience with his charisma and movement on the scene. His almost-androgen voice is unique, it defines the sound of the band. Federico, group's guitarist, and Luis, met on the high school and decided to create a band on mid 90's. The four Gandhi's started playing music on their university and at local bars. Their concerts, that included body paint, theater and scenography, became quickly into cult acts among the Costarican youth.

Inspired by british groups such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Queen; and by latin bands like Caifanes and Soda Stereo, Gandhi takes these elementes and applies them from an armyless country reality, whose population hardly reaches 4 million people, but with both oceans separated by 3 hours of distance each one from the other.

They have released 4 albums, including the newest one, CICLOS (2004), voted as the "Album of the year" in Costa Rica. On 2000, Gandhi received 3 local awards for their album "Páginas Perdidas". Their debut album "En El Jardín Del Corazón" obtained success without precedents in the country, reaching first places on the radio and on number of sold albums. On the scene, Gandhi has shared with another bands such as Deep Purple, La Ley, Aterciopelados, Jaguares and Café Tacuba, in front audiences bigger than 10000 persons. They have given concerts on Central America, México and United States.

On 2005, they united to the campaign "ARMAS? NO GRACIAS" ("FIREARMS? NO THANKS") together with Arias' Peace and Human Progress Fundation, in order to reduce illegal firearms traffic on Central America. To show this message to the youth, Gandhi launched "Sr. Caballero" video and single of CICLOS' album.
